The Zone 9 Assistant Inspector General of Police, Isaac O. Akinmoyede and the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, have taken measures to ensure that the post 2022 Eid-el-kabir celebration is smooth in Abia.
As a result, the AIG Zone 9 has directed the Commissioners of Police in Abia, Imo and Ebonyi states to put in place adequate security measures for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations within the zone.
He ordered that security arrangements must be sustained over the public holidays declared by the Federal Government on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th July, 2022 and thereafter.
The AIG further reassured the people of the Zone, “The Police will continue to partner the various stakeholders, and sister security agencies in providing quality service for the peace and well-being of all”.
Similarly, the state Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu restated the determination of his administration “to deal decisively with those who are behind the spate of criminality and kidnappings around Umunneochi LGA and its environs”, and assured all citizens of the state of equal treatment irrespective of tribe and religion.
In their separate messages of goodwill to all Muslims in Abia State and police Zone 9 on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-kabir, Ikpeazu described the occasion as “a time to remember and commemorate Allah’s great sacrifice for the world and urged Muslims in the State to imbibe the lessons and virtues of sacrifice, forgiveness and love for one another”.
He further assured that his administration shall continue to uphold the rights to freedom of thought, conscience and religion of every citizen by respecting their rights to worship provided that such rights will be exercised lawfully and in accordance with prevailing laws.
In his own Sallah message to the Muslim faithfuls in the zone, the AIG prayed that Allah accepts their sacrifice and prayers for the peace of the zone and Nigeria, as he also congratulated the Muslim ummah for the peaceful and successful celebrations.
